THE LIGHTHOUSE ROAD - Four Stars from Portland Book Review
Seniye Groff of the Portland Book Review has published a retrospective of The Lighthouse Road, by Peter Geye, on their website. The verdict? Four Stars for the novel due to be released in paperback next month.
This is a book you will not want to put down as it paints a fascinating portrait of how difficult life was for the early settlers of America.
The historical novel is about a young immigrant woman who lands in Duluth in the 1890s, where life is tough and hardship abounds. Her family is nowhere to be found and she must quickly find work and learn English.
Safe from the Sea, Peter Geye’s award-winning, critically acclaimed first novel, was also set in the same geographical region.
Peter Geye received his MFA from the University of New Orleans and his PhD from Western Michigan University, where he was editor of Third Coast. He was born and raised in Minneapolis and continues to live there with his wife and three children.
