THE LIGHTHOUSE ROAD Nominated for NEMBA

The nominees for the 2012 (25th annual) Northeast Minnesota Book Awards (NEMBA) have been named and Peter Geye’s The Lighthouse Road is among them. Geye took the award in 2010 for his novel, Safe from the Sea.
The award recognizes books that substantially represent Northeastern Minnesota in the areas of history, culture, heritage, or lifestyle. The award will be presented by The University of Minnesota Duluth Library and Friends of the Duluth Public Library in collaboration with Lake Superior Writers at a gala event on May 23, 2013 in the Kirby Ballroom on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
The Lighthouse Road is a historical novel set in two time periods, the 1890s and the 1920s in the Duluth area. It’s a generational immigrant saga of logging camps, desperate winters, whiskey smuggling, heartache, boat building and dangerous love.
