Latina Book Club Reviews THE DEATH OF FIDEL PEREZ
The Latina Book Club has reviewed Elizabeth Huergo’s The Death of Fidel Perez, released by Unbridled Books in April 2013, and called it “...beautifully written”.
Huergo’s book is beautifully written. The narrative rich and poetic. Her characters vivid and realistic. It’s truly a powerful and poignant story, full of hopes, despair, dreams, ruins. It’s fast-moving, and will grab readers right from the start and won’t let go. Definitely add it to your summer reading lists.
Elizabeth Huergo was born in Havana and immigrated to the United States at an early age as a political refugee. A published poet and story writer, she lives in Virginia. The Death of Fidel PĂ©rez is her first novel.
The goal of the Latina Book Club is to promote Latino authors and literacy by reading at least one Latino book a month. Thereby broadening minds and corazones. It’s also an attempt to embrace our Hispanic heritage; make new friends; and have something to read on the subway.
