C. M. Mayo’s Historical Novel is Weekly Read
Each week Unbridled Books features one of our great novels as the “Weekly Read”. This week, C. M. Mayo’s The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire, a sweeping novel of historical fiction, is highlighted. The book was originally published as a hardcover by Unbridled Books in May 2009 and then released a year later in paperback. The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire is an epic historical novel of Mexico during the short, tragic, at times surreal, reign of Emperor Maximilian and his court.
C. M. Mayo, also the author of the widely-lauded travel memoir, Miraculous Air: Journey of a Thousand Miles through Baja California, the Other Mexico, and Sky Over El Nido, which won the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. Mayo’s stories, essays and poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and literary magazines, including Chelsea, Cenizo Journal, Creative Nonfiction, Kenyon Review, Literal, North American Review, Massachusetts Review, Paris Review, Southwest Review, Tin House and Witness, as well as the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal
As with all our weekly reads, the novel will be available in digital format, at a promotional rate of $3.99 or less, through most major eBook outlets for the entire week.
