See Video of Elizabeth Huergo at Politics and Prose
Elizabeth Huergo, author of The Death of Fidel Perez recently released by Unbridled Books, is shown discussing her novel and answering questions at Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, D.C.
The story takes place in Havana, Cuba in 2003. The cry, “Fidel has fallen!” seemingly announces a second revolution. But though the fall at the center of Huergo’s first novel is that of a young man, Fidel Pérez, the event shakes up several people who witness it. As the characters recall the past and try to anticipate the future, their stories intertwine for a haunting portrait of Cuba.
