Harvard Coop Event with Marc Estrin and Martha Nussbaum
Martha Nussbaum, a professor of philosophy at the University of Chicago Law School, became the object of Alan Krieger’s affection in his golemic search for the perfect woman. So, with her permission, I wrote his lust, and her parry into Golem Song. Martha was good-humored enough to participate with me in a reading of her scene with Alan, both at the University of Chicago, and at Harvard, where she is teaching this semester. After the readings, we discussed with the two audiences the ethical issues involved in putting made-up words into real, living persons’ mouths. Here are some photos from the Harvard Coop event on April 18. — Marc Estrin
